DEC 16th Simantikos performs at NDE's New Moves

Simantikos closed Noumenon Dance Ensemble's "New Moves - A Live Choreographic Competition" with a premiere of two movements from "Adapting" a new work in progress by Haley McElwee. Simantikos was honored to be featured at this show after winning last year's choreographic competition. 

OCT 29th Old and New, Me and You

Simantikos collaborated and performed with Natalie Johnson Dance during their New York tour in April. This time, NJDance came to Chicago and joined Simantikos for a second split-bill show at Prop Theatre, called Old and New, Me and You. Each company got to showcase new works with new company members, and was delighted to be in collaboration once again.

OCT 14th/21st Simantikos performs at Full Circle Festival

Simantikos had the honor of being a part of Chicago Danztheatre Ensemble's Full Circle Festival at Ebenezer Lutheran Church. They performed Connor Cornelius's "Double Headed Vector." 

OCT 20th Simantikos hosts its first fundraiser

In honor of its 1 year anniversary, Simantikos hosted its very first fundraiser! The event took place at Mad River Bar & Grille, and the company raised $1500! Thank you so much to everyone who came out to support!

SEPT 17th Perceptions premieres in Chicago and closes Simantikos' first season

Perceptions made its Chicago debut at ChiArts's black box theater. Members of Simantikos were overjoyed with all the love and support from everyone who came, including guest choreographers Ashley Deran and Connor Cornelius. This show was the end of Simantikos' first season, and the company will soon be welcoming more dancers to join their second season.

SEPT 10th Simantikos participates in Resilient Benefit Showcase

Simantikos performed Ashley Deran's Ignite! at Ascendance Dance Chicago's Resilient Benefit Showcase. The event took place at the beautiful Athenaeum Theatre and a percentage of the proceeds were donated to organizations such as CAASE (Chicago Alliance Against Sexual Exploitation) and RVA (Rape Victim Advocates). 

AUG 5th Simantikos premieres Perceptions in South Bend

Simantikos Dance Chicago hosted its very first evening-length show at Moreau Center for the Arts at Saint Mary's College. Dancers from this year's PCDE kicked off the show with a piece dedicated to Director Haley McElwee's childhood friend Tyler, who passed away last year. The rest of the night consisted of original Simantikos choreography by Haley McElwee, and also by Project Bound's Artistic Director Ashley Deran. Two pieces premiered as well: Double Headed Vector by Connor Cornelius, and This one is for Us, by New York-based choreographer Nia Shand.

JULY 29th-31st PCDE returns to South Bend, IN 

Pre-College Dance Exchange returned to South Bend for its third year in a row and hosted a weekend-long workshop. Classes were from 9am-3:30pm every day, and the dancers learned a piece that they will perform at Saint Mary's Moreau Center for the Arts on August 5th. Their piece will open the night for Simantikos' show Perceptions.

JUNE 18th Simantikos participates in Arts and Nature on the River

Simantikos traveled to Channahon, IL to the Four Rivers Environmental Education Center and performed throughout the day at their event, Arts and Nature on the River. Simantikos performed segments of its upcoming show Perceptions in the facility's beautiful ballroom.

MAY 20th Simantikos performs at Zhou B Art Center

Simantikos contributed to The Zhou B Art Center's "3rd Fridays" Exhibition on Friday, May 20th. They performed Smile! and We Were All Humans.

APR 30th Simantikos performs at HATCH  

Simantikos performed We Were All Humans at Jennifer Muller/The Works' HATCH Presenting Series. This took place at The Works Studio in New York, New York.

APR 29th Split Bill with NJDance

During their New York tour, Simantikos teamed up with NYC-based company Natalie Johnson Dance and put on a split-bill show at Green Space in Long Island City. Simantikos performed Smile! and also premiered two new works: We Were All Humans and Ashley Deran's Ignite!


APR 25-26th Simantikos hosts PCDE at UChicago-Woodlawn

Simantikos' Pre-College Dance Exchange Program came to UChicago Charter School - Woodlawn! Simantikos hosted a 2-day workshop for high schoolers over their Spring Break.


MAR 6th Simantikos participates in Fame15

As a part of Fame15 Chicago: Launch, Simantikos performed segments of Smile!  Specifically, the pieces showcased were: Frames, Squared, and Mirrors in Our Screens. This event took place at The Elbo Room. 


​FEB 26th Simantikos hosts an evening at Gunder Mansion

Simantikos debuted Room to See at Berger Park's historic Gunder Mansion. Room to See is a site-specific work that was inspired by Smile!  To read our review in The Columbia Chronicle,


​FEB 10th Simantikos performs at RAW Chicago

Simantikos performed its new evening length work Smile! at RAW Chicago Presents: FUTURES.  It took palce on the Odyssey Cruise at Navy Pier.


​JAN 23rd Simantikos performs Squared at Roughhewn People Gala

Simantikos performed the duet Squared as part of Roughhewn People's gallery, "Framework." It took place at Nixie Gallery in Skokie, IL.


DEC 21st, 2015 Simantikos performs at Christkindlmarket 

Two weeks after performing at Christkindlmarket Oak Brook, Simantikos further shared its holiday spirit by performing another Christmas show at Christkindlmarket Chicago.


DEC 17th, 2015 Simantikos is Awarded Grand Prize at NDE's "New Moves" Concert 

Simantikos had the pleasure of presenting Mirrors In Our Screens at Noumenon Dance Ensemble's New Moves Choreographic Competition at Mayne Stage.  SDC was awarded the grand prize for most audience votes.
